OTC was established in 2000 by Rosh Pinah Zinc Corporation as a vocational training Centre. In 2008, it was registered as section 21 incorporated association not for gain by Rosh Pinah Zinc Corporation and Skorpion Zinc Corporation. The Centre offers basic training skills to residents of Rosh Pinah and those in the surrounding areas, aimed at enhancing the employability of the unemployed Rosh Pinah residents, thus creating a pool of much needed semi-skilled individuals who could be employed by any of the local businesses. Sponsorship of the projects is not only limited to the mines, but any other sponsor can run their projects through Obib, once approved by the Management Committee. Facilitating Local Economic Development (LED) that is less dependent (and even independent) of the current mining activities, supported by the necessary training is the primary focus of OTC’s work.
OTC’s mission is to initiate and sustain efficient and effective community development programs in response to needs of the community in Rosh Pinah, in the first place and also in the// Karas Region. We work in a committed and caring manner towards the improvement of the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual qualities of life of those we serve. We are committed to achieve sustainable empowerment. We aim to work in close relationship with any institution that endorses OTC’s vision and mission and can support or elaborate OTC’s work in any way.
ODC’S vision is a self-sustainable institution that initiates and support community development in Rosh Pinah and the //Karas region.
